mehHOW FITNESS CHANGED MY LIFE

During high school I was always the girl who dreaded PT. Every year I probably brought extra clothes for that subject for maybe a total of 30 times. I never took part in any sports and never really took care of my health. I was indeed ignorant and thought that as long as I still had two legs to walk on and a mouth to eat I was okay.

My lazy mentality went on until 4 months ago. After 29 years of living a relaxed lifestyle with the best foods and many merry nights with one beer too many

Then came the day that I was given the opportunity to get Personal Training at Core Fitness. For three months, my trainer Jack and I worked together on reaching the goal of losing 10 kgs. I was 76kg when I started and the reality was that I was obese for my age and height. There goes my life, I thought to myself.

It was definitely tough. No joke. But I changed my mindset and spent time with positive people who supported and encouraged me. I did my part by reading up on real life stories online and watching videos how other’s lives have been transformed. I began to understand that it was MY body and I could not just depend on others to help me reach my goal. I had to work. What I did for myself mattered.

After my first session, my body ached like mad the next day. The first month was very challenging and I ensured a series of temptations and moments of laziness indeed.

After a month, I started to feel stronger and I got used to my new diet. Jack and I kept track of my progress and we were glad that my weight was constantly coming off as the weeks passed. He was a good trainer, attentive and dedicated to his job as well. Within a month, I lost about 3 kgs. My results kept me going and I found myself looking forward to the new me.

I learned how to exercise effectively and watch my diet. I trained on my own at home when I couldn’t make it to the gym and joined GroupX classes at Core Fitness like BodyJam, BodyCombat and RPM. It was fun and I made some good friends along the way.

3 months have passed and I have lost 12 kgs in total. My body is stronger, more toned, and I feel at my best.

This has indeed been a life changing experience. I don’t make excuses about not having time for exercise, and I don’t eat everything and anything I want anymore.

I’ve endured the struggle, and now I’m looking to a better, stronger future.

Today, that pain was weakness leaving my body. Today, I have tasted less so now I taste more when I bite into a pizza. Yes, I still eat pizza. Who said that I stopped eating? The secret is everything in moderation. I used to eat 4 to 5 slices before I would be satisfied I thought that I would lose out if I didn’t sweep everything off a buffet table.

Now I enjoy my food and drink because I know how to keep track of my body. I continue to train, learn, and grow stronger. I don’t take my health for granted anymore. I’m giving my body what it deserves and I think you should too. It’s never too late to start, so start NOW.

Hi, My name is Adrian Pang, 19 this year, Im a Piano technician, I wasn’t born over weight, was short and skinny during my childhood years, at 10 years of age, I started growing taller and I was gaining weight, like any school boy, life was simple. It was a routine till I was 17, went to school, got home finished my homework than watched T.V and ate. After I finished my SPM I joined the family business. A Sino-Kadazan born and bred , drinking alcohol is a common thing during happy family occasions, consuming alot of beers with relatives at that time resulting me to have a huge and bloated belly.

Before I joined Core I started dieting tried to have no rice, replacing the rice with other carbohydrates such as potato and bread. It was not easy for me as I use to have atleast 2 bowls of rice per meal everyday, was cutting down quarter by quarter of the rice and eventually my appetite became smaller and replacing it by eating vegetables and meat. I stopped my intake of junk food and fast Food from the day I started to learn that burning the calories off isn’t an easy thing to do, occasionally I take them under temptation but that is only once per few months.

I used to think going to a regular gym and lifting weights will help me shed weight and build up muscle, I was wrong, I lifted weights without proper supervision and training for a few months which is dangerous as you can injure your body and developed unbalanced muscles. Living close to City Mall, I’d do my grocery shopping and eat there. And on one faithful day while I was walking with a friend, she wanted to check out CORE FITNESS so I thought “why not” and we walked in and was given a tour by one of the staff at CORE. Amazed by what CORE was offering, to my surprise I signed up on the spot and never looked back, it was time for a change.

By socialising with the trainers, instructors and the more experienced members at CORE, I’ve learnt how to properly build my body, ways to slim down and the essential diet plans that I needed to follow. After 1 week at CORE, the classes caught my eye, the LesMills Classes looked interesting and fun, the first class I joined was BodyPump, after the class my whole body was sore and tired, I couldn’t even wash my back when I was showering, but I never felt so alive. I started joining the classes once every week. After awhile, there were a variety of classes made availabe and eventually I participated most of the classes, ranging from stretching to aerobics to strength building, with their up-to-date modern songs and simple yet challenging moves, never have I experienced such fun exercising and have become addicted to the classes at CORE.

When I finished my 6 month membership, I’ve already experienced the difference in my life, I look alot better now, I Don’t feel lazy anymore and I have lost 17kg and my waist line which was 119 is now 96, I use to wear size 42 pants and now I wear size 36 pants, this was one of the things I never thought I would be able to do in such a short time with the help from the people at CORE FITNESS and other members at CORE FITNESS, it is very satisfying andam vey happy to have achieved something in my life that I can prove to people I can do it and that I have the will power to succeed, CORE is one of the best Fitness centres in town and the only one that offers the wide variety of classes for the members.
